THE CLUB: Running Deer Golf Club opened in May of 2000. The course was conceived and designed by Ed Carman, and his sons, J.R. and Ted, serve as the Head Professional and Course Superintendent.

"Straight forward 'Pinehurst' type course from tee to green with an excellent routing ruined by contrived putting surfaces. No house clutter, not one OB Stake, and only 3 water hazards (mostly out of play). Everything is in front of you for the most part, but there are a few 'local knowledge' tee shots. As for the greens, they went way over the top. They're large and smooth to putt on, but each green has extremely severe contours, shelving and large humps (if not mounds) on each of them. Shots only inches off the intended landing spot could wind up 40-60 feet away on another shelf of the green, if not off the green all together. The greens are so severe that they dare not raise the speed much above 10 beacause no one would finish their round before sundown. There is also some very long rough around the greens, making chipping adventurous at best.

From Rte. 55 South to Exit 35B. This will put you onto Garden Road. Go up to a 6 point intersection and make a left onto Parvin-Mill Road. Stay on Parvin-Mill Road for 1 mile. Make a right onto Running Deer Trail. After 1 mile on Running Deer Trail, the sales center will be on the left side.
